Important 2008 Inca Trail Regulations

Permits are Limited So Reserve your Space Early!

The Peruvian Government has administered changes of the Inca Trail to protect its fragile eco-structure from over-use. Reservations are subject to the daily capacity of 500 people, including guides, porters, helpers and around 150 tourists, therefore we recommend travellers reserve their places with as much notice as possible. The peak seasons of June-August sell out well in advance, ideally 6 months prior to departure. Shoulder seasons of April/May and September/ October are excellent times to trek the Inca Trail as well, but also require advance reservations.

As an alternative to the over crowed Inca Trail BikeHike Adventures is also operating on The Laras Trail, a 4-day/3 night hike which is a beautiful alternative to The Inca Trail, that doesn't have 500 people per day trekking trudging along the trails. The trip is supported by llamas, who carry all of the gear. For details visit http://www.bikehike.com/peru/peru_trip01.html
